I have a friend who works at Jupiter Pizza and after a meeting in Oakland a couple of years ago, I stopped by to hang out with him while he ended his shift. He hooked it up with a chicken apple sausage pizza (which he doesn’t eat ’cause he’s vegan) and beer. I was quite the happy girl after eating that. I went up for another meeting a month later and tried a different pizza. So good. I’m definitely going back the next time I’m in Berkeley!

Hi Cindylu. I grew up seeing my grandparents and uncles kill chickens (and pigs and goats). In a weird way, I think its more “humane” to raise and kill your own chickens. I have seen how the whole meat industry works in the US, the animals are raised in horrible conditions. At least my chickens see the sun, scratch some real dirt, and have enough room to run about. (But I have never killed an animal myself, so who knows how I will feel after)

I don’t know if I could kill a chicken. I remember seeing an uncle do it a long time ago and it was pretty crazy. I didn’t eat any of that chicken, I think. But I do remember thinking it was cool that it was in the soup they made for my mom (she was a little sick at the time).
